Auto AC Maintenance

The sun is blazing, and the asphalt is melting. It’s the height of summer, and everyone wants to stay cool. That includes your car! A malfunctioning AC system can turn a pleasant drive into a sweltering nightmare. At Pacific Automotive, we know how important a working AC system is. That’s why we’ve put together this auto AC maintenance checklist to help you beat the heat and make sure your vehicle’s AC is ready for the summer months:

  1. Check Your Refrigerant Levels
The most common cause of AC problems is low refrigerant. This can happen through leaks or simply due to natural refrigerant loss over time.
Signs of low refrigerant: Your AC blows warm air, or it takes a long time to cool down.
Don’t try to top off refrigerant yourself! This can be dangerous and could further damage your system. Let the professionals at Pacific Automotive handle it.
  2. Inspect Your Cabin Air Filter
A dirty cabin air filter restricts airflow and can reduce your AC’s effectiveness. It can also lead to musty odors.
We recommend replacing your cabin air filter every 12-15 months or 10,000 miles.
  3. Check Your Compressor and Belts
The compressor is the heart of your AC system. It compresses the refrigerant to create cool air.
The belt drives the compressor. If it’s worn or damaged, it can prevent the compressor from working properly.
Let us inspect your compressor and belts during your regular maintenance service.
  4. Look for Leaks
Leaks can develop in hoses, seals, and other components of the AC system.
If you notice any fluid leaking from your car, have it inspected immediately.
  5. Don’t Forget Regular Maintenance
Just like any other part of your car, your AC system needs regular maintenance.
Schedule an AC inspection with Pacific Automotive. We’ll check your system for any signs of wear and tear and ensure it’s operating efficiently.
