You may notice our new window sticker! We are proud to be an AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility, joining only 1.5 % of all general auto repair shops in the U.S. who have been given this status. But what does it really mean to be AAA Approved?
What is AAA?
Founded in 1902, the American Automobile Association has been a leading advocate for safely and security of all travelers. It is North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, with more than 60 million members! Over the years, AAA has become recognized as:
- The world’s largest publisher of travel information and one of the world’s largest leisure travel agencies.
- The nation’s leading provider of roadside assistance and automotive-related expertise.
- One of the most active advocates for the welfare of the traveling public.
- A top performer in the life insurance industry.
- One of the fastest growing financial products and services organizations in the United States.
As part of their services, they offer an Approved Auto Repair locator service.

What is Approved Auto Repair (AAR)?
Approved Auto Repair is a AAA member benefit designed to help direct a member to a pre-screened reputable automobile repair facility for quality auto repairs. AAR facilities sign agreements to provide reliable, high-quality service performed by ASE certified or manufacturer certified technicians. They are obligated to perform these repairs and such services which comply to industry standards.
What is the Process to get AAA Approved
You may be wondering, with less than 2% of auto repair shops admitted to the program, how does a shop get approved? It’s a process that requires transparency and honesty.
First, AAA representatives make a personal visit to the shop. They survey the business and poll customers about their satisfaction with the services received. The shop must receive a score of 94% satisfaction rating or higher to be considered.
The AAA representatives tour the facility. They check the overall condition of it and ensure that proper, modern equipment is being used.
Then, AAA interviews the repair technicians. They confirm that there are Master Technicians on staff and that every repair area that the facility performs has ASE-certified technicians.
AAA also checks the shop’s credibility. They perform checks to ensure the business is ethical and trustworthy. And they audit the shop to be sure they carry proper liability insurance.
